Both Tim and Andy are Independent Damp Surveyors covering the south of England including Southampton, Bournemouth, Portsmouth, Salisbury, Dorchester & Isle Of Wight.
Tim and Andy are highly accomplished and have over 40 years experience in the construction industry between them. They both hold a CSDD (Certified Surveyor in Damp Detection) qualification
Tim and Andy are highly skilled at identifying the cause of damp in both residential and commercial properties thanks to the Damp Detectives’ specialised training. They will concentrate on locating the issue’s root cause and try to effectively address it without covering it up.
We recognise that decisions regarding how to address damp, mould and condensation problems in your home must be carefully considered in your spending budget during this period of higher living costs.
Whilst this may be tempting to choose a free survey, these are often offered by builders who make their living from expensive building work like damp proofing. We commonly hear of those who have used such surveyors saying “I had some proofing work done but the damp has come back“.
Our damp surveys are excellent value for money. There is no guesswork and we will discuss every aspect of the survey and findings with you. Customers have found that our surveys are the most economical and effective way to resolve damp, condensation or mould permanently. This can potentially save thousands of pounds on completing unnecessary building work.
Tim and Andy cover all of the southern areas of the UK including:
Get in touch using the contact form, from there our damp detectives will contact you to gather as much information as they can from you and discuss an estimated quote. If you choose to go ahead with the survey, Tim or Andy will book an appointment with you to visit the property and will liaise with any relevant parties where necessary in order to carry out the survey.
Our independent Damp Detectives will provide an independent, unbiased survey using specialist equipment to identify the root cause and suggest solutions to almost any mould, damp or condensation issue.
A survey of a smaller, residential property typically takes around three hours. The primary areas of concern will be investigated, along with a thorough property inspection to ensure that nothing is missed. They will also inspect any remedial measures that may have been implemented and assess their impact on the property.
If you have requested a full report of the findings, this will be generated after the inspection. At this point, Tim and Andy can advise on any appropriate corrective actions that may be required to help mitigate the problem.
Each customer will receive:
Ethical Quoting – After a no obligation assessment you will be given an idea of the initial cost of the survey. It’s worth noting that a survey is likely to cost less than a standard home buyer’s survey, offering great value for money.
Quick Response Time – If the required lead time for your survey is not possible after the initial assessment, you will be informed immediately.
Site Visit – If you are satisfied with the initial assessment, a site visit will be arranged in order to complete the survey.
Survey Report – During the site visit, our surveyors will collect all of the information needed to write a report. If you request a written report, this will be sent to you via email in PDF format within 5-7 days of receiving payment, which is due upon survey completion. The report includes a variety of elements such as a wider scope survey of the entire property.
Every situation and property is different and for this reason we are unable to offer a fixed quote to any of our customers for a damp survey. The best thing to do is get in touch and provide as much information as you can along with evidential images where possible. This will help Tim and Andy better understand the problem. Once you have decided to go ahead with the survey, they will be able to provide you with an estimated cost. It is worth noting that a damp survey often costs less than a basic home buyer’s survey, offering great value for money.
“I am really glad I found damp detectives, having independent advice is invaluable. I made the rookie mistake of using a damp proofing company to do a survey, and suddenly went from a small penetrative damp problem to a massive expensive rising damp issue but with no real investigation. Luckily I found DD, they gave me good advice on what the issues were, cost effective ways to resolve them and also good tips for managing the property. I would highly recommend them.” Sandeep.

Following the discovery of years of unnoticed damp on a cavity insulated wall, built up from a neighbours garden way above our damp course, a chimney leak badly repaired last September, now leaking from all the wet weather and a free quote to solve with only a 10 year guarantee costing thousands. We started to feel we were just throwing good money after bad, and if went with that survey and quote, the damp would just come back and likely worse.
We found Damp Detectives scrolling through the internet. Videos watched and all they advised on their website, made sense to get a proper paid survey, that in the right hands would get the work needed done, to eradicate the damp and not just mask it for a while.
Tim called, appointment made easily. Arrived on time and did a thorough survey of our chimney and wall. He was knowledgeable, professional, understanding and helpful with his advice on what we do and don’t need to do.
With Tim’s survey the right tradesperson, should now be able to quote only for what needs to be done and hopefully save us thousands.
Thank you Tim and the Damp Detectives!
Can’t recommend using Tim’s services enough! We instructed him to inspect 2 properties in the Salisbury area as we wanted an unbiased, completely independent d&t report. These were carried out at short notice, he spent a considerable amount of time investigating all aspects of the d&t issues, provided a bullet point assesssent prior to receiving the full, very detailed report, complete with photgraphic evidence. This was invaluable is assessing what needed to be done to satisfy a mortgage lender.
When we had further questions after the survey, Tim happily assisted us.
